Designing A Modern Art Deco-Inspired Kitchen (Series: 1)
I’ll be honest. My kitchen is perfectly styled — if we want to sell the house.
White cabinets, gray walls, granite counters, stainless steel appliances, and a stone backsplash. It’s a buyers-galore because it’s classic and provides a good vision for people to imagine themselves cooking in this kitchen.
But, I don’t necessarily want classic, or white cabinets.
I moved into my house about five years ago and didn’t think I’d stay long after that. However, with the housing market as it is now, I’ll definitely be here for a bit longer.
Don’t get me wrong - I LOVE my house! I just viewed it as a starter home is all. Now, I’m past the point of feeling like this is my starter home - it’s simply, my home. And I want it to bring me feelings of joy.
So now it’s time to do the updates that make my home feel more like mine, one step at a time, and I’m SO excited!
✨ Modern Art Deco Inspiration ✨
Art Deco has a special place in my heart with its elegant arches and bold geometric shapes that help add variety to a space. Gold and brass finishes, fluting, a mix of glossy and velvety textures… It speaks my language!
Here’s what I’m prioritizing for the space:
White oak lower cabinets + enclosed fridge with pantry
Epoxy resin counters and backsplash = ivory, tan, with a touch of gold/bronze
Painted natural upper cabinets
Gold/brushed brass cabinet handles, bistro shelves, and tile grout lines
Off-white walls with intricate molding
Channel tufted velvet seat cushions
Colored glassware on display
Please give me your comments on what you think of this space! Any tips?! I CANNOT WAIT to get started!
